Ahead of a particularly deadly period on the roads, New York Blood Center is encouraging you to donate.
Blood is always needed, but data from the National Highway Safety Administration show New Year's Eve and New Year's Day have 13% more deadly crashes than in the month prior and the number of overnight crashes ending in a death go up 136%.
If you donate through Jan. 2, you'll receive a pair of warm, winter socks as thanks - plus your single donation can save up to three lives.
