Hundreds of Union workers in the New York State Court System protested outside Judge Janet DiFore’s condo building following new COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

The union workers say they are not happy about the new mandate, requiring state workers to be vaccinated with at least one shot by Monday or face termination.

Court Officer Joseph Guzman calls the ruling unethical and unfair and says there could be dire consequences.

“We're gonna have a shortage of staff. This affects court officers, court clerks, court reporters, assistants in the court system. This mandate affects all of them,” said Guzman.

The mandate is scheduled to take effect on Monday and beginning on Tuesday, unvaccinated employees will be barred from work unless they submit a religious or health exemption.

If the exemption is denied, workers will be given 10 working days to get vaccinated.
