Work crews in Newburgh are continuing their cleanup efforts after a rain and hail storm tore through the city last night.
Central Hudson Gas and Electric crews were out throughout the afternoon working to restore power to the remaining residents left in the dark due to toppled trees and power lines. At the height of the storm, around 3,500 people were without electricity.
Residents throughout the area reported seeing hail the size of golf balls, which uprooted trees, some of them snapping in half and landing on houses and other buildings. One family said the wind and hail was so loud that they didn't hear the tree landing on its roof.
