A Newburgh woman had to flee her home as a massive fire destroyed her house on Victoria Drive.
The fire, reported around 5 a.m., left the back porch and wall destroyed, firefighters said.
The sole occupant escaped unharmed.
Neighbors, though unfamiliar with the family, expressed sympathy and pledged support.
"We just feel sorry…because they are our neighbors," said Stedroy Burke, a Newburgh resident. "We're going to do everything we can to help."
The Town of Newburgh Police Department's fire investigators are probing the cause of the fire
