A Newburgh man is in police custody and faces several charges
after he allegedly assaulted a state trooper.
Authorities say they stopped a blue BMW on Dubois Street in
Newburgh on Feb. 14.
News 12 is told the driver, Antwonn Williams Jr., provided a false name, pushed
the trooper and ran.
The alleged assault happened after the trooper realized Williams Jr. wasn't being truthful.
The two were fighting when the suspect allegedly reached for
the trooper's Taser.
Authorities were eventually
able to take the man into custody. They
say he also had an
active warrant with state police.
