A Newburgh man is facing up to 15 years in prison for trying to burglarize a home and threatening the victim with a machete.
Prosecutors say Angel Lahoz climbed through his relative's bedroom window and went through her purse. The victim went to check on the noises in her living room and that's when prosecutors say Lahoz grabbed a machete and threw her to the ground.
He dropped the weapon and the victim called police.
The victim's husband and brother took Lahoz outside and later arrested him.
Lahoz is scheduled to be sentenced in February 2024.
