A pursuit ended with a man fatally crashing his car Thursday night in Newburgh, according to state police.

Authorities say 39-year-old Marcus Burks sped off after a trooper attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation.

Officials soon called off the chase, but the driver ended up slamming into another vehicle on Broadway.

Burks was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two people in the other vehicle were also injured.

The Attorney General’s Office says they are investigating the incident.
