A Newburgh man has been found guilty on multiple counts of burglary and criminal contempt for several incidents dating back to last year.

Ricardo Mendoza was convicted on nine counts in Orange County Court.

On numerous occasions, Mendoza violated a restraining order against his former intimate partner, and prosecutors detailed each incident:

• Oct. 23, 2021 Mendoza entered into the woman's home, in violation of the order, and grabbed her arm, trying to drag her out of bed.

• Dec. 1, 2021, Mendoza again entered the woman's home in violation of the order, grabbed her phone from her hand and stole items from her pocketbook before fleeing out the front door.

• Jan. 13, 2022, the woman returned to her home to find Mendoza inside. He proceeded to punch, kick and squeeze the neck of the woman, and throw her phone in order to prevent her from calling the police.

After all of these incidents, Mendoza fled the home and could not be located by the police who responded.

He faces mandatory time in state prison and will be sentenced in October. Mendoza was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail following the judge's verdict.
