A Newburgh man has admitted to fatally stabbing 38-year-old Jose Soto during an altercation near the 411 Lounge on Broadway on May 28.
Prosecutors say Eric McCollum stabbed Soto in the torso and through the heart before fleeing the scene.
Despite the Newburgh police's prompt arrival and attempt to assist Soto, he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.
McCollum was apprehended days later and pleaded guilty to manslaughter this past Tuesday.
He is slated to be sentenced on Dec. 21, with an expected term of 15 years in state prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
