Meteorologists have been warning residents to take precautions for this October storm, but the nor'easter has caught so many people off guard that they are flooding local stores to get last-minute essentials.
While snow has blanketed many areas, the biggest concerns are the numerous amounts of tangled power lines, loss of power and downed trees.
Weather conditions are only expected to get worse. The early season nor'easter will continue to affect the area overnight, and the winter storm warning will remain in effect through 2 a.m.
Residents are urged to stay off the roads if possible.
However, taking the train may also prove to be difficult as many lines are experiencing longer than usual delays due to fallen trees and signal problems.
