The North Castle Police Department is making sure residents stay safe from scammers and identity thieves during tax season.
They say criminals often impersonate the IRS, tax professionals or financial institutions to access and steal your personal information.
They shared a list of tax scams to look out for, including IRS phone scams.
The IRS does not make threatening phone calls and they do not request wire transfers or card payments over the phone.
