Dozens of nurses and other workers at the Northern Manor Care Center in Nanuet protested outside of the facility Monday, saying recent cuts have degraded the level of care for the residents.
Those protesting say that the new management company has cut staff, meaning fewer nurses are there to handle the same number of residents and fewer staff to keep the facility clean.
An administrator for the facility said that changes in programs such as Medicaid and difficult economic times are forcing them to make the painful cuts. The administrator added the facility is still committed to maintaining the highest level of care for the residents.
