Marijuana and money is a hot topic up in Albany with
bills to legalize recreational pot in both the Assembly and Senate.
Legalization would bring in
lots of cash to the state and what to do with it has officials and advocates
split.
One proposed option, is
giving back to areas hardest hit by the war on drugs. "Find which communities have
really been affected and go to child services, after school programs, housing,
job placement, " says Bryce Mack, of Minority Millennials.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has said he wants a large portion
of marijuana sales to go to the state's general fund - which he controls.
A vote on a legalization
bill could come next week.
The measure could also be
rolled into the state budget, which is due April 1.
