A
Nyack business owner from Puerto Rico is marking a milestone.
Maria Luisa Whittingham has
owned a boutique shop in the village for 35 years.
While her location has
changed a few times over the three-plus decades,
she's focused on selling ethical items that benefit the world,
as well as locally.
She also gives back every
year with scholarships for female high schoolers and other fundraisers.
"To me, it’s a part of what I'm selling, and what
I'm selling is community connection," says Whittingham.
Whittingham will celebrate tonight,
as a portion of South Broadway will be closed for
"Spirit of SoBro." The block party takes place from 5-10 p.m. and will include live music, a psychic fair, trivia
contests, raffles to benefit the Nyack Center and more!
