The village of Nyack is giving its residents a gift in the form of free parking for the holidays. The only problem is that many residents are unaware of the policy.
The mayor says he doesn't like to publicize the free parking because he doesn't want cars parked in the same spot all day. However, business owners say not publicizing the free parking is bad policy. Many customers say they are getting punished because they automatically put quarters in the meter only to find out that they didn?t have to.
The Nyack Parking Authority does enforce the three-hour limit on the free parking. The mayor says he may change the policy for the next holiday season by placing bags on the meters that denote the three-hour parking limit.
