Halloween parades are happening across the Hudson Valley this weekend.
Nyack is taking care of their final preparations for their parade on Saturday. The streets will be filled with people in costumes and elaborate floats.
The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Park. It will go down South Broadway and up to Main Street.
"The people marching in the parade, I'm expecting 300 to 400 and then we have spectators, I expect 15,000 people," says Roger Cohen, president of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce.
Local businesses along the parade route are also getting into the Halloween spirit and preparing to serve thousands this weekend.
"This is a big time of year in Nyack. It's been a tradition of ours for a long, long time," says Constantine Kalandranis, owner of Little Dean's Oyster Bar and Eatery.
"We call it controlled chaos because there's thousands of people in the street, thousands of kids in the street but it's great to see their families come down," says Nick Loconsole, owner of Turiello's Pizza.
Another tradition of the Nyack Halloween parade are murals painted on the windows of many stores. The Halloween-themed murals are painted by local high school art students.
Nate Hirsch, a student, told News 12 he's been looking forward to painting a mural since elementary school.
"It was a fun time, me and my friends did it and then I came down here and helped out some of my other friends," says Hirsch.
Although the parade starts at 5:30 p.m., there will be live music and a pet costume contest starting at noon at Memorial Park.
