Officials: Fire damages Claremont Village building

A fire ripped through a six-story housing building in Claremont Village Sunday evening.
Fire officials say the two-alarm blaze started on the fifth floor around 5 p.m. and burned through multiple units at 595 E. 170th Street.
Residents who were inside the building during the fire told News 12 that they were scared for their lives and that they are just glad they were able to make it out to safety in time.
Everyone is expected to be OK, but a 15-day-old newborn was transported to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for minor smoke inhalation.
A 52-year-old female was also being treated for similar injuries.
Officials say the cause of the fire is still unknown.
The Red Cross says four households were displayed as a result of the fire and one needed housing.
