Officials say eight people were forced from their homes by a fire in Middletown on Sunday.

The incident began at a residence on Liberty Street and subsequently extended to the adjacent house, officials added.

The American Red Cross is currently providing both households with essential support including shelter, food, and clothing.

The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.
