No one from the American Pool Players Association's Hudson Valley league had won any APA national championship in more than 30 years – until now.

Walden-native Diane Fox, 56, won the White Tier of the APA 9-Ball Shootout at the Westgate Las Vegas last month.

She first had to battle through regional competitions to earn a spot among more than 300 players in her tier from around the country.

After winning the final match before a live audience, Fox won $10,000 and became a local pool legend.

"Made the shot. Won the match," she said, recalling the moment she sunk the 4-ball in the corner pocket to finish routing her final opponent. "You know, you get like 'Oh my god, oh my god, I'm going to do this.’ It's pretty cool. Pretty cool."

A multi-camera livestream of the final match can be replayed on the American Pool Players Association's YouTube channel.
