Orangetown pushing initiative to reduce underage drinking

The Town of Orangetown is launching a new initiative to try and curb underage drinking. The state-funded initiative would ask that retailers ask for two forms of ID when someone tries to purchase alcohol.

The Town of Orangetown is launching a new initiative to try and curb underage drinking.
The state-funded initiative would ask that retailers ask for two forms of ID when someone tries to purchase alcohol.
The plan so far is voluntary for retailers, but officials are asking everyone to participate.
Officials say that while fake IDs are prevalent, many who have them only have one, not two that match. They say by asking for two IDs, it would reduce the chance of selling to someone underage.
The developers of the plan say that the second form of identification could be as simple as a credit card or library card, just something that matches with the first.
