Ossining Police Officer Jason DaSilva is being celebrated for saving a dog trapped in a burning building on Croton Avenue.
PETA awarded Officer DaSilva with a Compassionate Action Award.
He sprang into action to save the pup, "Cujo," from the third floor. The dog's owner says neighbors tried to pry her apartment door open while she was at work, but couldn't get in because of the heavy smoke.
She says "Cujo" is like family to her and her son and says Officer DaSilva was their "hero."
The Ossining Police Department was also awarded in 2018 for rescuing a chicken from a fire.
