Ossining police continued an annual tradition Tuesday by stopping drivers for minor infractions and handing out coffee certificates or toys instead of tickets.

During the second annual Holiday Cheer Detail, officers pulled over drivers for minor infractions, including failing to signal, rolling through a stop sign, obstructed view, broken tail lights or broken brake lights.

Officers stopped Sean Trenholm because he didn't signal. Instead of a ticket, he got a $5 coffee certificate.

"I wasn't sure why he pulled me over,” he said. "I was definitely surprised and very thankful."

Even children in the cars that were pulled over received treats too. The daughters of Eric Jimenez received toys of the character Elsa from Disney’s film “Frozen.”

The tradition was organized by Ossining Police Officer Emily Herschowitz.

Herschowitz called Target, and it donated $150 to purchase toys for kids. The officers also handed out gift cards to Village Coffee.
