Gov. Hochul deployed the Army and Air National Guards to help put out the fire that occurred Tuesday morning in Minnewaska State Park.
This development comes after more than 200 people from over 24 agencies were on the grounds fighting to contain the fire, as well as four helicopters dropping water.
County officials believe a lightning strike sparked the fire.
“I want to thank everybody risking their lives right now to contain this," said Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan. "This is just a reminder of how dangerous conditions are."
The park is still closed while crews fight the flames.
