The Parkchester area is being celebrated for its character in honor of Bronx Week.
Most of the buildings were constructed with intricate terra cotta sculptures and other artistic flares that make the neighborhood unique. While many residents say they are a reminder of life in the late 1930s, others say the sculptures make good landmarks to help you as you travel around the area.
Professor Lloyd Ultan, a Bronx historian, says there are about 500 of these sculptures adorning buildings in Parkchester.
