A Sparrow Bush man is facing multiple felony charges after a parole compliance check led to the discovery of stolen and illegal firearms inside his home.
Officers who entered his Route 42 residence say they found two loaded handguns, a Glock and a Beretta with a defaced serial number. Further investigation revealed that one of the firearms was reported stolen from North Carolina.
The 34-year-old was taken into custody on a parole warrant and remanded without bail. The charges against him include criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a defaced firearm and possession of stolen property.
In a release from the Town of Deerpark Police Department, Police Chief Richard Sztyndor praises the agencies involved in the gun seizure.
“Keeping illegal firearms out of our communities requires constant vigilance and strong partnerships. This arrest is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when local law enforcement agencies work side by side with our partners at New York State Parole,” he said. “Through coordinated enforcement efforts, we removed dangerous weapons from our streets and enhanced the safety of our residents.”
