Immigration advocates stepped up the pressure on Sen. Charles Schumer Friday to provide a pathway to citizenship to undocumented immigrants.
Dozens of immigrant New Yorkers and advocates gathered at the Peekskill waterfront before they marched to Schumer's office nearby.
They say they helped Democrats gain control of Washington so now they want the Senate majority leader to keep his promise and ensure a pathway to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of undocumented New Yorkers.
"We've delivered that control to the Democrats, so we feel that the Democrats have to deliver the promise that they've made us and make sure that citizenship is being included in this year's reconciliation package," said Peekskill City Councilor Vanessa Agudelo.
Advocates said they are in talks with Schumer's office and will continue to keep up the pressure.
