A Peekskill woman faces animal cruelty charges after a tip to SPCA Westchester.

The organization's animal cruelty hotline received a call last month about a dog in distress, prompting a visit from their law enforcement unit to 33-year-old Shannon Deleg's apartment.

They discovered an emaciated pit bull and two emaciated mixed-breed dogs locked in a filthy, cramped cage that hadn't been cleaned. Deleg was arrested Wednesday and issued a desk appearance ticket. She is due in Peekskill City Court on March 20.
