Pelham woman gets up to 3 years in prison for drunk driving crash that killed 2

Officials say Bethzy Higueros was driving over 80 mph on Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck in April 2021 when she drove through a red light and hit a utility pole. The vehicle then caught fire in the early morning wreck.

A Pelham woman has been sentenced to prison time for a drunk driving crash that killed two passengers.
Bethzy Higueros, 23, will spend one to three years in prison after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, according to the Westchester District Attorney's Office.
Officials say Higueros was driving over 80 mph on Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck in April 2021 when she drove through a red light and hit a utility pole. The vehicle then caught fire in the early morning wreck.
Veronica Diaz Ayala, 20, of New Rochelle, died at the scene. Itzel Oliveros, 19, also of New Rochelle, died two months later.
The DA's office says Higueros had a blood alcohol content level of .17 at the time of the collision.
