A sprinkler head that ruptured near electrical lines led to evacuations at a nursing and rehabilitation facility in Plainsboro late Tuesday night, according to a statement from the facility's media relations team.
Officials said 149 residents of Merwick Care & Rehabilitation Center were moved to other nursing facilities, according to the nursing home's "established emergency management plan."
"[Tuesday] evening, residents of Merwick Care & Rehabilitation Center are being moved to an in-place network of local skilled nursing facilities, per our established emergency management plan," Karine Peterside, administrator of the facility, said in a statement. "This action is a precautionary measure following a sprinkler head rupture with proximity to electrical equipment. At no time has the safety of Merwick residents or staff members been compromised."
Peterside said the administration was grateful for the skill and professionalism of the first responders and staff members who helped move the patients
