Play Ball! Hudson Valley Renegades to become Yankees affiliate
With the recent announcement that the Hudson Valley Renegades will become an affiliate of the New York Yankees, businesses and officials alike are seeing dollar signs.
The Green Bowl cafe is having a tough first year of business, but things are looking up, thanks to the Bronx Bombers.
The café is near Dutchess Stadium, home to the Hudson Valley Renegades - which will now be playing High A as a Yankees affiliate.
This means more games and more fans who want to watch players in the Yankees system hit the diamond in the Hudson Valley.
"The people you're seeing on the field, there's almost a guarantee, that a couple of them, if not more, will be playing 70 miles down the road in the Bronx in a couple years. that is exciting," says Jeff Goldklang, owner of the Hudson Valley Renegades.
Goldklang says the Renegades average about 4,000 fans per game and that may grow along with their fan base.
"I want residents to know one, we saved baseball in Dutchess County, " says County Executive Marc Molinaro.
If COVID-19 is still a threat by the first pitch, Goldklang says they will have elements in place to make sure they're ready to play ball.
