A man was killed and four others were wounded in a shooting
in New Rochelle overnight, police say. Another shooting took place an hour
later but left no victims.
The first shooting took place at about midnight where shots
rang out at a gathering on Horton Avenue and Brook Street, where five men were
shot. A 29-year-old man, believed to be a Brooklyn resident, was shot in the
neck and did not survive his injuries.
Another man who was shot in his back was rushed to a nearby
hospital for surgery. His condition was not immediately released. According to
hospital personnel, the other three victims were not seriously injured.
About an hour later, police say more shots were fired on
Main Street into the windows of an apartment complex. There were no injuries
reported and it was not clear if the two shootings were related.
The incidents come on the heels of another shooting that
took place on Union Avenue on Friday night, where shots were fired at a moving
pickup truck.
Officials are currently investigating both shootings and
have not identified any suspects. Authorities are asking that anyone with
information call the New Rochelle Police Department.
