Police arrested three men Friday for allegedly breaking into several Nanuet homes and cutting a gas line in an attempt to steal copper pipes.
According to authorities, Raymond Mann, Travis Rose and William Jennings vandalized a vacant home and cut active water pipes and a gas line.
A disaster was averted thanks to a neighbor who called police after smelling gas.
Investigators say the suspects were probably going to sell the harvested pipes at a scrap yard for $3 a pound. The three are now facing felony charges.
