A standoff occurred Wednesday in Rockland between a war veteran and police after he allegedly barricaded himself in his house and threatened to harm himself.
Dozens of SWAT team members swarmed a house on Ohio Avenue in Congers, trying to make contact with an emotionally disturbed war veteran.
Officials got a call at around 11 a.m. from the person's mother, stating that the man might possibly want to harm himself.
Police blocked off the surrounding streets as they spent hours trying to coax the 32-year-old out of his home.
After a three-hour standoff with no contact, police broke into the house and were able to get him out.
The man was taken to Nyack Hospital to be evaluated.
Police say the man had no weapons on him, and no one was injured.
Neighbors say the war veteran has a history of emotional problems and that this isn't his first run-in with the law.
