A bicyclist was fatally struck by a car Saturday night in Hyde Park, according to police.

Authorities say Monica Deyo was crossing State Route 9 just before 11 p.m. when she either fell or jumped off the bicycle.

Police say a driver hit her near the Speedway gas station after swerving to avoid the bicycle in the roadway.

First responders found her lying on the highway with life-threatening injuries. She was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver remained on the scene and has been cooperative with investigators.
