A police chase on I-684 ended in a car fire and brush fire in Goldens Bridge Tuesday afternoon.
State police were alerted to a stolen vehicle traveling northbound and attempted to pull it over, but authorities say the driver continued on and sideswiped an uninvolved vehicle in the process. The driver of that car was evaluated at the scene and did not require medical attention.
The suspect vehicle eventually lost control, crashed into a guardrail and embankment, and sparked a fire.
The driver ran off but was quickly found and arrested after a brief perimeter search, authorities say. The driver's identity has not been released.
The suspect faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of stolen property, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
