Police: Child sustained minor injuries when struck by on-duty Monticello police officer

Surveillance video given to News 12 shows the child run onto Terri Lane from behind a fence Wednesday while the officer was driving down the road.

News 12 has learned that a child was struck by an on-duty Monticello police officer this week.

Surveillance video given to News 12 shows the child run onto Terri Lane from behind a fence Wednesday while the officer was driving down the road. The child is then struck and seen thrown several feet due to the impact. The child appears motionless on the road just before the video ends.
At least two people standing by witnessed the incident.
Acting Chief David Lindsay says the child was taken to the hospital by EMS and treated for bumps and bruises. Lindsay says the incident is under investigation but that it appears the officer was not speeding or engaged in any wrong-doing.
