A police presence was clear lately at the Stony Point Motel that has been no stranger to crime.
The town had the motel at South Liberty Drive shut down and cleaned up in 2001. However, police say there has been a resurgence of drug dealing, theft and prostitution recently. Last month police say a hotel guest was arrested after stealing clothing from nearby businesses. Police also arrested a Haverstraw man for possession of 37 packs of crack cocaine.
Business owners near the motel say it has been safe for the past five years until recently. They say the police patrolling the area is a welcome sight.
