Police increase presence at Brewster, Carmel schools Friday following recent threats

Police say they are adding more patrols at all schools in the Brewster and Carmel districts.

Investigations into school threats in Brewster and Carmel have led to two separate arrests by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.
Police say reports came in of violent social media threats aimed at four different schools in the Carmel district, including the George Fischer Middle School.
Investigators say they arrested a student from the middle school for making the threat.
Hours later, officers were called again but for the Brewster school district.
They say they found a social media threat directed to a specific student at Brewster High School.
Investigators say they quickly identified and arrested a former Brewster High School student for allegedly making the threat.
Police say they are adding more patrols at all schools in the Brewster and Carmel districts.
