Police are investigating three separate shootings that happened over the past few days in the Hudson Valley, leaving several people injured.

One of the shootings happened Monday morning on a Newburgh street. Resident Manny Martinez says it has left him and his neighbors shaken.

“We used to come outside… there was a bunch of kids all over the place… riding bikes, playing in the middle of the street, playing basketball. We don’t even see that anymore… it’s sad," he says.

Police say the person was shot on Benkard Avenue, and that the victim’s wounds are not life-threatening.

Just minutes away, detectives were on Lander Street Saturday night where another person was shot. That person is also expected to survive, according to police.

In Middletown, there was a shooting on Dolson Road Saturday night that left two men hospitalized, and an SUV riddled with bullet holes.

Stats by the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive show shootings were up last year. Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in July as a result.

Orenzo Charles works for the Regional Economic Community Action Program, a nonprofit that does outreach in neighborhoods affected by gun violence with a program called SNUG.

He hopes gun violence isn’t on the rise in Newburgh or the region.

“Hopefully, it’s just something that is isolated," he says.
