Officers responding to a home invasion in Mount Ivy made a bizarre discovery Monday when they found a three-foot alligator inside the house. Haverstraw police say they received a call from a woman who claimed she was robbed by three men carrying assault rifles. When police arrived at the Mazza Trailer Park off Route 202, they searched the trailer and found a Cayman alligator in one of the bedrooms. The victim told police the alligator did not belong to her. Police contacted the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to remove the gator. However, DEC officials say when they arrived, the reptile was gone. Police are searching for the robbery suspects and questioning neighbors about the gator.
