A Rockland County man was arrested for allegedly interfering with firefighting efforts at a home Wednesday in Kaser, according to authorities.
Firefighters were dispatched that morning to a multi-family residence at 29 Kaser Terrace.
Ramapo police say Jacob Silberstein, 26, used an unauthorized water hookup that could have slowed down firefighters at the scene.
Authorities accuse him of being part of Matzelei Aish, a non-certified fire group.
"If you have an emergency, or you think it's an emergency, call 911. Do not call outsiders who do not have the training. It is not smart. It delays response times. It does not bring the right resources to the table,” said Rockland County Executive Ed Day.
Police say Silberstein faces multiple charges including obstruction and reckless endangerment.
