It was a scary Christmas for a New Hyde Park family when police said a man who’d been terminated turned up at his former employer’s home to confront him.

Kar Toong, of Brooklyn, is facing multiple charges, including burglary and assault.

News 12 spoke with Doug Liang, who said his dad had laid off the defendant from his construction company because he didn’t have enough work for him.

Liang lives at the Robby Lane home with his father, mother, wife and three kids. It was in the late afternoon when he said Toong, 37, came kicking on their glass door.

Liang said his 7-year-old son alerted him and when his father went to talk to Toong, the defendant “aggressively” went into the house.

Liang said the defendant tried to attack his father, so he grabbed him, “wrestled him outside to the door” and “got him to calm down a bit.”

Liang and his mother, who tried to intervene, both suffered bruises.

Liang said Toong kicked his car, causing around $1,000 in damage. He said he tackled him and held him down until police came. Liang said this wasn’t the first time the defendant came to the house. He said Toong came to the house months ago and kicked his dad’s car. He said he didn’t file a police report for that incident.

Toong was arraigned Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. The judge set cash bail at $2,500. Four orders of protection were issued on behalf of the victims. The defendant’s next court date is Dec. 28.

Liang said the incident didn’t spoil Christmas, but it did put a “damper” on it.
