Police released body camera video of their response to a dispute between a migrant staying at the Ramada Inn hotel and a staff member.
In the video, five officers can be seen tackling a woman, and a man placed in handcuffs.
The police response is being questioned.
Yonkers police spokesman Detective Sgt. Frank Didomazio says everything happened by the book.
"One officer is holding her legs down to make sure she doesn't kick, the other officers are holding her arms...And she received no injuries, so ultimately what it comes down to is it was successful," he says.
Mayor Mike Spano wants to make sure residents know they are safe in their city.
“I need the residents to know there is not a lot of crime coming out of there, I need the residents to know that we will continue to monitor 100%,” he said.
Police say in the year since the migrants have arrived, they have responded to about 130 calls to the Ramada Inn.
They say it is primarily disputes between hotel guests and between guests and staff, up from about 90 calls the year prior.
Migrants at the hotel tell News 12 their rooms are randomly searched, and their stuff is stolen and that's ultimately what led to the altercation
News 12 has not been able to independently confirm this.
Mayor Spano says the onus there is on the federal government,
"The federal government isn't giving us extra money for the [police] calls, they aren’t giving us any support and that’s completely unacceptable," he says.
News 12 reached out to the Ramada hotel and their parent company but did not hear back in time for this report.
