Police across the Hudson Valley are encouraging people to plan a safe Super Bowl weekend, not only for your safety and others, but also to avoid penalties.
According to Dutchess County officials, law-enforcement agencies throughout the county will be participating in a special effort to crack down on impaired driving beginning Friday through Monday.
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, and various local departments will be out in force to spot unsafe driving.
News 12 is told campaigns like this can reduce impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20%.
Police say people should start planning now with a designated driver or a ride service.
