Poll: Majority of New Yorkers don't want to see Cuomo run for reelection
A new poll shows that many New Yorkers do not want to see Gov. Andrew Cuomo in office again.
The Siena College poll found that 39% think Cuomo should serve out his term and then not seek reelection, while 23% want him to resign immediately.
This means that only about a third of voters think the governor should run for a fourth term.
However, Cuomo did get a high marks on parts of his handling of the pandemic -- 66% had a positive opinion on his handling of the vaccine rollout. But 60% had a negative opinion on his handling of nursing homes.
A spokesperson for the governor responded to the poll, saying, "Today's Siena poll is surprisingly positive because New Yorkers have only heard one side of the story and haven't yet heard the truth. When they hear the true story and the political games people are playing it will be much different. Also it's remarkable that only 13 percent of Democrats said the Governor should resign even though virtually all Democratic politicians‎ called for it."
