A portion of Playland Parkway has been renamed after late lifelong humanitarian - John Carey.
Carey passed away in October 2019 at 95 years old, after a long, distinguished career in public service.
"John Carey Place" is now permanently named in his honor.
It extends from Rye Beach Avenue and runs along the beach and pool parking lot, north to the intersection at the upper circle of Playland Park in Rye.
Carey was a World War II veteran-- who once served as mayor of Rye, Westchester County judge and acting Supreme Court judge.
