President Donald Trump visited New York's 17th Congressional District, on behalf of Rep. Mike Lawler, and spoke before thousands at the Fieldhouse at Rockland Community College.
It marked the first time a sitting president has come to Rockland County since President Ford in 1976.
Other Republican candidates in attendance included Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, and Jackie Auringer, who is running against Rep. Pat Ryan in the 18th District.
In his speech, President Trump said Rep. Lawler pushed hard for the SALT tax deduction, which he says delivered thousands of dollars in tax relief to millions of families across the Hudson Valley.
He also said 30,000 jobs have been created in the past two month and five million Americans are off of food stamps.
As President Trump was speaking, the crowd started chanting, "Four more years!"
President Trump's visit comes ahead of New York's 17th Congressional District primary race, happening on June 23.
Rep. Lawler will face the Democratic winner of the primary in November, which will be one of the most closely watched races in the nation.
