At least three dozen farmers attended the meeting.

Farmers say since 2020, the Putnam County Legislature has denied every application for inclusion in the county's agricultural district, which provides farmers with certain benefits and protections.

"We are your constituents, we need your help and support, we don't need the animosity," said one of the farmers during the "recognition of public on agenda items" portion of the meeting.

Farmers also voiced concerns regarding the county's agricultural board, saying the board has been inactive since last year, leaving prospective farm owners with unanswered application questions.

"We're here to bring attention to how the Putnam County Legislature is blocking all farms to get into the agricultural district. They have no idea why they're doing it. We're all curious why," said Andrew Wulkan.

The meeting ended abruptly, with a fire alarm sounding off during the recognition of the public on agenda items, leaving the farmer's concerns unresolved.

News 12 emailed the Putnam County Legislature and attempted to speak with members ahead of the meeting but did not get a response.
