A Putnam man is facing animal cruelty charges, accused of severely neglecting his dog.

The SPCA law enforcement division was dispatched Saturday to a call of a severely neglected mini poodle.

When detectives arrived at the Patterson home, they spotted a 9-year-old mini poodle unable to see or walk, due to the extreme matting in front of its eyes and extremities.

The dog had over 8 pounds of feces and urine-soaked matting removed from its body.

News 12 was told the dog is still receiving care at the animal hospital and is doing well.
