Residents in West Nyack were outraged when construction on a nearby railroad crossing began a day earlier than scheduled.
The only way in and out of the community is a railroad crossing on Pineview Road and that was cut off due to construction. Residents had to park their cars on the opposite side of the tracks and get a police escort to walk across. When the Clarkstown police heard about the mix up, they stopped the construction and made workers fill in the road to make it passable. According to the CSX railroad, the construction will start again as planned today at 10 a.m. and will last four hours.
